Initial Unemployment Claims Jump 3.341M, within Estimates CRANBURY, N.J. (DTN) -- Initial unemployment claims filed during the week-ended March 28 jumped 3.341 million to 6.648 million, the Department of Labor reported this morning, with the weekly increase within a wide range of estimates that spanned from two to six million. The Labor Department revised the prior week's figure up 24,000 to 3.025 million first time filers. In the most recent two weeks, 6.366 million people filed for unemployment insurance for the first time. The U.S. dollar pared gains in response to the data, trading at 99.86. (c) 2020 DTN.
